Job Description

The Director of Search Engine Marketing is responsible for maximizing the sales and profitability of the Search Engine Marketing channel globally. You will be responsible for leading a team in managing millions of keywords across 2 brands world-wide and partnering with the IT division in refining the technology to support the channel. The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of Search Engine Marketing, is a proven leader, and has a track record of delivering great results in a direct marketing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines, and implements the SEM strategy, including strategic vision, technology enhancements, and product roadmap

  • Partners with the IT division and other key stakeholders to expand on existing technology

  • Develops bidding and optimization strategies/algorithms to maximize the sales and efficiency of the channel

  • Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities. Stays current with industry trends.

  • Oversees the daily/weekly/monthly management of SEM campaigns, managing to channel KPIs

  • Pursues conversion gains through landing page testing, promotions and other key variables

  • Develops channel sales and cost forecasts, with accountability for an 8 digit marketing cost budget

  • Provides leadership, motivation and mentoring to team to maximize the results of the channel

  • Partners with head of SEO channel, leveraging technical expertise in the development of technology enhancements and tools for SEM

  • Partners with SEO channel to optimize overall Search Engine Strategy

  • Partners across all marketing channels to leverage learnings, and to measure cross channel impact
Qualifications

  • 8-10 years marketing experience

  • Thorough understanding of Search Engine Marketing, ideally with experience managing a long-tail program

  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence across a broad set of constituents

  • Strong analytical skills - gets excited by data, and can perform, interpret and act upon complex analyses

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • You don’t need to be a technologist, but you do need to understand how technology can be leveraged to maximize the potential of the channel

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment, where performance is measured by results
